Compassion: The Official Street Team

Many of us have a passion for serving children and families in poverty. We may be sponsors, correspondents, child advocates, and event volunteers... but there is still more that we want to do to get involved!
I came across this blog last year telling be about Compassion's Street Team on FanCorps. FanCorps is an organization that is in the business of running “street teams.” It began with music artists and expanded into non-profit organizations.

Compassion uses FanCorps as a platform to evangelize about Compassion's ministry through social networking. How it works is there is a list of "orders" or "assignments" that Compassion comes up with for members to fulfill. Each order is given a point value. Point can be used to earn free prizes through Compassion. Many of these items are also found in the Compassion Store, while others include Christian music, movies, and discounts for Sponsor Tours (my favorite).

The nice thing, is that you do not have to be a sponsor or an advocate to join (although it is a big plus if you already are). When you sign-up, for free, you will receive ideas, “assignments” and periodic updates that you can use in your ministry of advocating for children in poverty. Pick and choose what you want to do, watch as God uses this team to be His light in the darkness of poverty, and get some cool stuff while you’re at it.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any question in regards to this ministry. I absolutely love being a part of it because I can participate as much or as little as I please. Try it and see if this is something you can use in your Compassion ministry.

  1. I joined this a while ago, but didn't quite grasp it's purpose. I might have to look into this more.
