Triple Mail Call!

I love this time when I get a letter from all of my kids!!! Here they are!!

The first is from Chatchai from Thailand - Dated May 2, 2012:

Dear Maria,

I'm writing on behalf of Chatchai because he is unable to write by himself. He is wondering how you and your family are right now. Are you keeping very well? He and his family are very fine. Again, he is wondering how the weather in your country is right now. Is it so hot or not? He can go to Church sometimes and he can join in the Christmas celebration with the project. He says he is very glad and very happy on Christmas Day recently. He says he prefers both Christmas Day and Easter Day. He says right now his family is preparing for growing corn crops. He says he can join in his birthday party in the project because the project has arranged for him and many other friends. Also, the Easter celebration has been arranged in the project as well. He asks you to take good care of your health because right now the weather is very hot. He asks you to say a prayer for him in coming to learn in the project and for his preparation for learning in a new grade, and for his parents in their work also. He prays the blessing of the Lord to stay with you and your family.

Love in Christ and With love and highly respect,

Chatchai and child worker on his behalf

Even though someone at the project is writing for him... I imagine my little guy saying "And tell her this... and this... and this...!!!" :) How I love his letters! So much detail from such a little tike!

This next one is Nury from Mexico - Dated July 9, 2012.

Hello Sponsor Maria!

How is your health? I am fine. My holidays are Christmas, Easter, and New Year's Eve. On my birthday, my grandmother cooked tamales. I had a great time! Ho has everything gone with your students. What grade will you be teaching in? I am going to have a female teacher. I am passing onto 5th grade meanwhile my sister is moving onto 8th grade. We are doing good in school. Thanks for the letter you sent me, it is very pretty and the drawings were nice. I wish you could pray for my family. I am about to get out on vacation, and when  that happens, I am going to attend the Vacation Bible School, both at church and at Compassion. I hope you have a good time. God Bless you.

Nury

Oh Nury, you are growing beautifully into the woman God has created you to be!

Last but not least is Yamairy from Dominican Republic - Dated June 19, 2012.

Dear Maria,

How are you? The child and her mother send warm regards and blessings to you. The child says she did well in school because she got promoted to 4th grade! The child thanks you for the letter, stickers, and for the pictures. The child wants to know, do you like bread with salami? She asks for prayers for her whole family and for you. May God bless you.

With love and affection,

Yamairy and Compassion tutor

He attends the project's activities on weekends. He said the he studies not too much at school because he is in kindergarten. He is studying primary education now. He has an opportunity to sleep in the afternoon also. He said that your smile is very beautiful. He said to please write to hime again. Finally, please pray for his travel to and from school. He will always pray for your health. He wishes that you will be happy every day. He spent your gift on sport trousers and clothes. May God bless you always.

Love and regards,

Chatchai and project volunteer

I chuckle at this letter. It is so common for kids this age to hear the question, "So what did you do in school today?" and respond with, "Nothing much." It is too funny! My young man just turned 8 on March 28th. Can't wait to hear about how his birthday went!

Yay! Another letter from Chatchai! This letter was received on March 19, 2012 and was dated on December 27, 2011.

Dear Maria,

Greetings! I am a project teacher, writing you the letter on behalf of Chatchai because he cannot write by himself. He and everyone in his family are doing fine. He thanks you so much for loving him. He thanks you for the stickers and the pictures. He said you and your close friend are so beautiful. He doesn't draw well. He asked me to draw it for him. He's afraid you might not be able to see. He hopes you don't mind that I (teacher) drew on his behalf. He will try to make it for you by himself again. He want to know if you like the forest and orchid or not. He likes forest and orchid so much. When he's discouraged, he likes to go into the forest because there are birds and other animals there. He's looking forward to receiving the letter from you again. Please pray for his study as well. May God Bless you and give you happiness on Christmas and New Year!

Love and regards,

Mail Call Catch Up!

As mentioned in my previous blog, I have been very busy with parent-teacher conferences and midterm report cards. I finally have time to update on 2 of the letters I have received from my dear Chatchai from Thailand.

This one was dated October 26, 2011 and was received January 14th, 2012.

Dear Maria,

Hello. I am a volunteer writing for Chatchai because he can't write by himself. The following message is all from him.
He is glad to receive your letter. How are you and your family? How many brothers and sisters do you have? He and his family are doing well. He has 5 siblings and he is the youngest. Arunee is his older sister. They go to the project on the same day.
It's now his school break, but his school is starting soon. It's the beginning of winter here.
Thank you for the bible translation from Timothy 3:16 and Isaiah 55:11. He promises that he will read and share them with his family. He will pray for you and your family. Please take care of your health and please pray for him and that Thailand will get through the flooding crisis.

Love and miss you,

Chatchai

This second one was dated November 28, 2011 and was received February 6, 2012

To Maria,

Hello. I am a project staff writing on behalf of Chatchai because he can't write by himself. He is asking how you are and your family. His family and himself are doing well. He is asking what do you like to do when you are free? He likes to go to the farm with his parents when he is free or during school is closed. He is asking if you could take care of your health. He said he cares about you. He is asking if you could pray for his study and for everyone in his family. May God Bless you!

Love in Christ,

Chatchai

My heart always rejoices when I hear my kids tell me about what they are learning, that they are praying for me, and that they are thinking of me... especially with all the responsibilities and struggles that they face daily. I makes me turn to God with a grateful heart that I was born where I am in the time that I was.

Thank you Lord for your grace and mercy. Please continue to be with the sponsored and un-sponsored children of Compassion International.  I pray that they come to know you and that they grow up to be the men and women of God that you are training them up to be. I praise you and thank you for doing this, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Mail Call from Mexico

Here is the third letter received from my third sponsor child. This one come from Nury from Mexico. It was dated October 22, 2011 and was received December 19, 2011.

Hi dear sponsor Maria,

How has your health been? I hope you're doing well. I'm doing well, but I had a little fever, a cold and a cough. At my church, they teach me hot to praise God and how to pray. At the Compassion Project (also known as Compassion CDC - Child Development Centre), they teach me about God. I would like you to please pray for me and my family. I was really happy to receive the letters and the stickers you sent me. I'm doing well in school. I'm 9 years old and my sister is 12. My mom is 32 years old and my dad is 38 years old. I've been having a really good time in school. My teacher left already and we organized a special meal and get-together to say goodbye to him. We had fun with all my classmates. I hope you'll have a really good time this Christmas. God bless you. See you soon.

Nury

I absolutely love how her responses are lengthier and more detailed. She is growing into such a beautiful young lady of God. Would love to hear about your letter updates! I love reading them on your posts! Feel free to also comment below and share the link to your post!

Mail Call from Thailand

Love this time of year when all the letters come shuffling in. Been trying to keep up with getting the posts up! This letter was received from Chatchai. It was dated September 30, 2011 and was received December 16, 2011.

Dear Maria,

Hello! I am Sumalee Chermue. I write on behalf of Chatchai because he is not able to write by himself yet. How are you and your family? His family and he are doing well. It is reaping corn season in his hometown and it is the rainy season also. The rain is making the reaping corn miserable. There is earth collapsing also then it is very hard to go to anywhere now. How is the weather in your country? How is your country now? At the project, he studies in the program, sings songs, listens to Jesus' story, and cleans our project's area. He is taking exam at his school now. He will take a break from school soon. He said that he will help his parents to do reaping corn in this vacation. Please pray for Thailand because many places in Thailand have been flooded now. There is earth collapsing in many places also. Finally, he said that he wishes you and your family will be happy always. God Bless you.

The project's volunteer for Chatchai

Please join me in praying for Thailand and it's weather conditions - even though time has passed since the letter was written. That's the nice thing about our God, time is not a limit for Him!

Double Mail Call! - Part II

This next letter was another letter from Chatchai in Thailand. This was the second letter this month! It was dated August 31, 2011 and was received September 30, 2011. This letter was written by dictation to a project volunteer.

Dear Maria,

Greetings! I'm writing on behalf of Chatchai because he cannot write by himself. He's so glad you write him the letter and send him the pictures (this was when I first piloted the new online letter writing tool!!) He really likes them a lot. You asked him whether his school was on the break or not. He says he goest to the school every weekday. What did you do on his break? During the school break, he helped his parents take care of his younger sibling, get the water, and wash dishes. Importantly, he studied at the project too. He's so happy having a great time at the project. He wast to know if it rains in your country or not. You asked him if he has summer class or not. Yes, we do have summer class here but he's still young to take it, but his older sister attends summer class. You asked him when the last time he read and studied was. He said he reads and studies everyday. His older sister teaches him to read every day. Lastly, I want you to pray for his family and his study as well. He wishes you happiness. May God bless you always.

Love and regards,

Chatchai, written by project volunteer

Here is the picture that he sent with the letter. I love getting these! I love how I am hearing from him so much!

Mail Call from Dominican Republic!

The second letter I received was from Yamairy in Dominican Republic. It was dated June 20, 2011 and was received August 6, 2011. She had two messages in this letter. I will share them both here.

Hello dear Maria,

The child greets you in the love of Jesus. She says; my family is well and now I am on vacation because school is over. I like visiting the church. When I grow up I want to be a doctor. In my community there are people who work as sugar cane cutters and sowers, tractors drivers and teachers. I would like to learn to cook cakes and bake bread, and some ways how I can do this is by paying attention, practicing and attending school. The child thanks you for the letters. In school I am learning to add and write. I got the magazines; thanks for them (again, these are the extra Scholastic News magazines from my classroom)! They are beautiful. The story I like the most was when Jesus shared the bread and fishes (I believe this is in response to when I asked what her favorite bible story was). Do you have a dog? I ask you to pray for my father. God bless you!

With much love,

Yamairy

Second message....

The child says; the school year runs on September and ends in June. Here in Easter we hold a beautiful big service to the Lord in the church and they make dramas and pantomimes and cook tasty sweet beans (beans cooked with milk, sugar and raisins). I love you. Talk to you soon.

Yamairy

Yamairy also drew me a picture of here at I believe to be her school or the Compassion project. It was labeled, "the child is assisting the sick."

I am so proud of this beautiful little girl! She is working so hard in school and has such motivation to be successful in all she does.

Come back again for the final letter from my third Compassion child! Also, please stop by the Compassion Family blog to enter to win a correspondent kit to help you in your letter writing!

Mail Call from Thailand!

Every time I go to check my mail, I shuffle through the envelopes to find big, bold, blue letters that read, "Message from your sponsored child!" I was so happy to receive letters from all three of my sponsor children the past several days. (Thank you to Michele from Blogging from the Boonies for the picture!)

The first letter I received was from my dear Chatchai from Thailand. It was addressed May 31, 2011 and was received on July 23, 2011. Since he is still young and unable to write, he dictates his letter to Compassion worker.

Dear Maria,

Hello! I write this letter to you on behalf of Chatchai because he can't write the letter to you by himself. He would like to thank you so much for sending him the birthday gift. He spent the money to buy the clothes. He keeps some money to buy the sweets. Chatchai and his family are fine now. He likes to study about sculpture the most. He likes the book that you sent to him (extra Scholastic News magazines that I had from my classroom). The pictures are very beautiful but he can't read that book. He bought the cake and and ate with his friends at the Project. He likes the dog very much but he has the pigs and the chickens at home (I asked him what his favorite animal was). However, he like the dog. He likes to study about spiritual part because it's fun. He learns to know many stories such as Chinese millionaire that he likes. On a Christmas, the Project had the celebration. Chatchai and his family went to join in the Christmas celebration at the church (which was awesome because his parents have not come to Christ yet). He showed dancing and doing many activities. He got a lot of fun. His parents grow plants, They didn't get any effects from the earthquake happened. I would like you to pray for his trip to the Project. May God bless you and your family.

Love and Respect,

The Project's manager

I love Chatchai's energy in his letters as he tries to answer all the questions I ask him in the letters I send him.

Please stop back again to read letters from my other two Compassion children.
